From Discovery to Delivery

The Michael J. Fox Foundation partnered with our team to co-build a website that reflects its brand and leadership in the Parkinson’s research community.

I contributed across the full lifecycle of the project, beginning with UX discovery to understand the needs, motivations, and behaviors of both the organization and the audiences it serves. These insights informed the overall design direction. In the final phase, I focused on refining the experience through subtle interactions and animations that helped bring the site to life.

Collaborative Workshop

Following an initial discovery phase that included a content audit, competitive analysis, stakeholder interviews, analytics review, and user surveys, we met in person for a collaborative workshop.

During this session, we mapped existing user flows to understand the step by step experience users have while completing key tasks. This work helped uncover pain points, gaps, and opportunities across the journey. As a team, we captured How Might We questions for each task, then synthesized, organized, and prioritized them to guide the design direction moving forward.

Here are a handful of examples showing how the How Might We (HMW) approach went:

Exercise 1 - Patient Searching For Dystonia Treatment

  • HMW provide a more personalized experience based on where our users reside?

  • HMW better manage the content life cycle?

  • HMW improve on-site search?

  • HMW rank higher in google search?

  • HMW eliminate dead ends?

Exercise 2 - Family Member Looking To Donate

  • HMW make it easier to donate? Web, mobile, and wallet payments.

  • HMW dynamically suggest donation amounts?

  • HMW make tributes, donations, team fox, all under same umbrella?

  • HMW better explain/show the impact donations will have?

  • HMW show where donations go?

Exercise 3 - Researcher Seeking Animal Model

  • HMW segment content without excluding?

  • HMW reduce the amount of info and clicks?

  • HMW show holistically why we provide tools and other resources?

  • HMW better organize research tools catalog results?

  • HMW better understand the needs of the researcher audience?

Exercise 4 - Patient Seeking New Therapy

  • HMW consolidate and streamline the nav to better link news and overall impact?

  • HMW showcase the latest trials and treatments in layperson terms?

  • HMW give patients greater hope that there is momentum in research development?

  • HMW better showcase “related news” on therapies pages?

Interactions & Animations

The following videos highlight a selection of the interactions and animations I designed for the new website. These moments were intentionally subtle, focused on reinforcing the brand while improving clarity, flow, and overall usability.

I worked closely with our front-end engineering team to ensure these ideas translated cleanly into production. Each interaction was documented with detailed notes and behavior guidelines, helping align design intent with implementation. The result is a cohesive, polished experience that feels thoughtful and responsive on the live site.
